As a child, gourmet mud pies, onion grass soup, and holly berry stew ruled the menu in my imaginary kitchen.  A typical afternoon was spent in the backyard perfecting my Julia Child impression while I prepared these “natural delights” in front of my audience.

Mom was my first and favorite chef. There is still not a grilled cheese that tastes as divine. I used to watch and be amazed at how she created these culinary sights and smells. I would glaze over her cookbooks and pretend to assist, not knowing how many of those moments I would reflect upon when we started In the Company of Yum.

The Glass’, as I like to refer to my family, are sweet potato pie lovers, thanks to the coveted recipe that was passed down to me from my Grandma Eloise. There were many tales that my late father used to share with us in regards to how the scent of this pie filled up the household and the battles that happened with his brother over the last slice. He, like many had the ultimate sweet tooth and god forbid there were any orphan pies or orphan slices, he happily devoured them.

In the Company of Yum was born out of a love for making pies during the holidays, for bragging rights over which grandmother made the best sweet potato pie, for friends that wanted to share the love of pie with their families, and the desire that we had to follow our dreams and start a business centered around this love.

Self-proclaimed foodies at heart, we love blending the traditional with the trendy, honor family recipes and love creating new ones. We absolutely love the magic that pie can bring and have no problem finding an excuse to celebrate any time of the year with one.
